If your team already translates with ChatGPT, Crowdin lets you do it at scale. OpenAI models translate your content right inside your localization workflow, with your translation memory, glossary, style guide and project context applied from the first draft. The integration is native, with nothing to install, and works on crowdin.com and Crowdin Enterprise.

## What you can do with OpenAI in Crowdin

- **AI auto-translation** – translate new content automatically with an OpenAI model, grounded in your TM, glossary and style guide.
- **AI Pipeline** – build multi-step workflows where each step has its own instructions and model, and each step re-checks the previous one. A typical pipeline adds screenshot and file context, runs the Ambiguity Filter, translates, then runs file consistency and QA checks. Use one OpenAI model for every step, or a fast model as the baseline and a more capable one for translation.
- **Re-translation** – when your context, glossary or models improve, re-run AI translation on older AI translations. Human-approved translations stay untouched.
- **AI translation via API** – translate strings or files through the Crowdin API with your TMs, glossaries and style guides, without creating a project.
- **Crowdin in ChatGPT and Codex** – with the [Crowdin plugin](https://chatgpt.com/plugins/plugin_asdk_app_6ac7b1a0689c81919b1b49bfa1eb5a9d), check translation progress, find strings and look up glossary terms from ChatGPT, or let Codex set up localization in your repository.

## Managed service or your own key

- **Managed service** – Crowdin handles the OpenAI integration for you. No setup needed: start using AI features right away and pay only for what you use with Crowdin Credits.
- **Bring your own key** – connect your own OpenAI API key for direct billing from OpenAI and full control over your AI usage.

## Human in control

AI translations are never approved automatically. Your reviewers decide what gets published, and AI works within each user's roles and permissions.

## Get started

Add OpenAI as an AI provider in your Crowdin AI settings – with your own API key or Crowdin-managed access – then use it in AI pre-translation or an AI Pipeline. See the [Crowdin AI guide](https://support.crowdin.com/crowdin-ai/) for step-by-step setup.
