Translating SurveySparrow surveys with Crowdin

While SurveySparrow does not currently offer an API for integrating with translation tools like Crowdin, you can still achieve multilingual surveys by manually exporting survey texts and importing translations. In this guide, we will walk you through the step-by-step process for manually translating your SurveySparrow surveys.

Localizing SurveySparrow survey

• To access the language options for your survey, click on the Languages icon in the left navigation menu after creating your survey, then click "+ New Language".

• In the pop-up window, select all of the languages that you want to translate your survey into.
• After selecting the languages for your survey, you will see a window that gives you the option to translate the survey yourself or using Google Translate. Click on the "Download" button for one of your target languages. The file that you will receive can then be used as a source file in Crowdin.

• You should now be able to locate the recently downloaded file on your computer. It may be named something like Translate-Polish.xlsx.
• To begin the translation process in Crowdin, open your project page and navigate to the Files tab. Then, simply drag and drop your file there.
• Every time you upload a spreadsheet to Crowdin, you will be required to configure it before the import process can begin. To translate SurveySparrow files in Crowdin, select the "Configure columns for import" option on the first screen that appears after clicking the "Configure" button. Then do the following mapping
  1. Select "Do not import the first row" option.
  2. On the column mapping screen, assign the first column as the "Key" column.
  3. Second column should be "Source string".
  4. Third is "Context".
  5. The last column should be "Translation".
  6. To continue with the import process, click on the "Save" button.

• In Crowdin, you can translate your file using your preferred machine translation engine, in-house translators, or a translation agency. Follow the preferred process for translating a SurveySparrow survey.
• Once the translations are complete, download them from Crowdin and go to the languages section of your survey in SurveySparrow.

• To preview your translations, return to the Build screen and click on the "Preview" button.
