Since Articulate Rise 360 does not currently provide a public API, a direct integration is not possible. We created this guide to help you bridge that gap by using Crowdin’s via the manual XLIFF export and import workflow.

Translating your Rise 360 projects within Crowdin remains the most efficient way to localize trainings.

Workflow Overview

1. Export: Download an XLIFF file from Rise 360.

2. Translate: Upload the file to Crowdin for translation.

3. Import: Upload the translated XLIFF back into a duplicate Rise 360 course.

Step 1: Prepare your Course in Rise 360

Before exporting, you must create a copy of your course for the target language.

1. On your Rise 360 dashboard, click the ellipses (...) on the course tile and select Duplicate.

2. Give the duplicate a name (e.g., Safety Training - French).

3. Open the duplicated course.

4. Go to Settings > Translations.

5. Expand Traditional XLIFF Translation.

6. Important: We recommend keeping "Include HTML formatting" selected to preserve your text styles (bold, italics, etc.).

7. Select your source language code and click Export XLIFF File.

Step 2: Translate in Crowdin

This is where you manage the actual translation process.

1. Create a Project: In Crowdin, create a new project (or use an existing one).

2. Upload File: Upload the .xlf file you exported from Rise 360. Crowdin natively supports XLIFF 1.2 and XLIFF 2.0.

3. Translate: Use the Crowdin Editor to translate the content.

4. Download: Once the translation is 100% complete, download the translated XLIFF file from Crowdin.

Note: If you see HTML tags in the Crowdin Editor (like <b>), do not delete them. Crowdin’s tags feature protects these so the formatting remains perfect upon import.

Step 3: Import back to Rise 360

1. Return to the duplicated course in Rise 360.

2. Go to Settings > Translations > Traditional XLIFF Translation.

3. Click Import Translated Text.

4. Select the file you downloaded from Crowdin. Your course content will update instantly.

Step 4: Translate Labels (Buttons & Navigation)

Rise 360 handles UI elements (like "Start Course" or "Submit") separately from the main text.

1. In Rise 360, go to Settings > Labels.

2. Choose a built-in label set for your target language from the dropdown, or manually translate the labels if a preset isn't available.

Troubleshooting Tips

• "Translation file doesn't match": Rise 360 XLIFF files are content-specific. You cannot export a file from "Course A" and try to import it into "Course B." Ensure you are importing into the exact duplicate you created in Step 1.

• Code Blocks: Note that Rise 360 Code Blocks and some Question Banks cannot be exported via XLIFF and must be translated manually within the Rise 360 editor.
