PDF translation with Crowdin

Translating PDFs can be challenging because the format was not designed to be edited. At the same time, when translating a PDF, post-editing is often required to make the final document look professional. This is why it is usually best to try to find the source file that was used to create the PDF and translate that instead.

If you have scanned documents or documents that do not need to look polished after translation, Crowdin can help. You can upload your PDF to Crowdin and work with it like any other file type. Keep in mind that Crowdin will convert the source file to DOCX after uploading. After the translation is complete, you will receive a DOCX file. If you upload a scanned PDF, Crowdin will use OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to extract the text. For text-based PDFs, the file will simply be converted to DOCX. While Crowdin will try to preserve as much formatting as possible, the appearance of the resulting DOCX document may differ from the original PDF.
