Bilingual DOCX Export

Source and target documents together – side by side – in a single DOCX, with minimal manual work.

Why you need it

For bilingual documents like contracts, manuals or policy documents, you want the original language and the translation in two columns, aligned block by block. Without this app, assembling that layout meant lots of time spent on copy‑paste and column tweaks in Word.

How it works

• This app works as a post‑export processor: it doesn't provide any UI for configuration but automatically processes each DOCX when it’s exported from Crowdin.
• Takes your original DOCX and the translated DOCX from Crowdin.
• Builds a two‑column, invisible‑border table and drops the full source in the left cell, the translation in the right.
• Preserves headings, paragraphs, tables and inline formatting.

Note

Please note that post‑editing is often still required. Translated documents might be shorter or longer, making the two columns not perfectly aligned. Another common issue is that tables and other formatted blocks might not scale horizontally, so you may need to adjust them manually before delivering the translated file.

Note on Name Collision

There's another app in the Crowdin Store with a similar name. Although they share the name, they serve different purposes:

• Bilingual Docx Export (this app) merges two full DOCX files into a two‑column, borderless table.
• Bilingual Docx Export (Review in Word) generates bilingual documents with segment IDs, TM/MT match info and direct links back to Crowdin for linguists to review translations inside Word.
