Overview

The TAUS QE & APE Integration for Crowdin leverages Quality Estimation (QE) and Automatic Post-Editing (APE) technologies provided by TAUS, enabling an automated evaluation of translated content within your Crowdin workflows.

• Quality Estimation (QE): Automatically evaluates the quality of translations and categorizes them into "Needs Review" or "Acceptable Quality" based on customizable thresholds.
• Automatic Post-Editing (APE): Automatically improves machine-generated translations, providing revised translations directly within your Crowdin projects.
• Automated Approval: Optionally approve translations that meet your predefined quality standards.

Installation and Setup

When installing the TAUS QE & APE application, two new workflow steps will be available in the workflow editor. The TAUS workflow steps must be configured before uploading your content.

Configuration

After installation, configure the integration in your workflow step settings by providing:

• TAUS API Key: Obtain this key from your TAUS account.
• Quality Threshold: Set a value between 0 and 1 to define your desired minimum quality level.
• Approve Good Translations: Enable or disable automatic approval of translations that meet or exceed the specified quality threshold.

Using the Workflow Steps

The integration provides two workflow steps:

TAUS QE Step:

• Input: Translated strings
• Outputs: "Needs Review" or "Acceptable Quality"

TAUS APE Step:

• Input: Translated strings
• Outputs: "Not Post Edited" or "Post Edited"

Choose the appropriate workflow step based on your project’s specific needs.

How it Works

Once configured, the integration automatically evaluates each translation when triggered by your workflow. TAUS returns a quality score and optionally an improved translation. High-quality translations can be automatically approved and progressed to the next workflow stage, significantly reducing manual review efforts.

Supported Languages

The integration supports all languages available via the TAUS QE & APE API. Ensure the languages configured in your Crowdin project align with those supported by TAUS.
