The Zendesk Guide app allows for seamless synchronization of articles and their associated image assets between Zendesk Guide and Crowdin, ensuring a consistent and localized user experience across all languages. Below is a guide on how to manage image localization for Zendesk Guide articles using the Crowdin Zendesk app.
Prior Settings:
Before syncing your Zendesk Guide articles to Crowdin, select Translate image assets in the Zendesk Guide app Settings within Crowdin.
Open your Crowdin project settings and select Allow Offline Translation to allow your translators to download source files to their devices for offline translation.
Syncing Content from Zendesk Guide to Crowdin:
- Upon syncing, your Zendesk Guide articles and their embedded images are uploaded to your Crowdin project. Images found in your articles are placed in separate folders within Crowdin, organized in a way that makes them easily identifiable and accessible to translators.
Adding additional context:
- Add necessary details and instructions for your translators using Context.
Translating Image Assets:
- Since the image translation process involves external tools, translators download the images from Crowdin, use their preferred graphic editing tools to localize the content within the images, and then upload the localized versions back to Crowdin.
Syncing Translations from Crowdin to Zendesk Guide:
Once the image assets are localized and uploaded to Crowdin, you can push the translations back to Zendesk Guide. The Zendesk Guide app intelligently replaces the original images in your Zendesk Guide articles with localized versions, based on the target language of each article.
This automatic replacement ensures that each article in your Zendesk Guide displays the appropriate images for the viewer's selected language.
This application connects your Zendesk Guide (Help Center) account with your Crowdin project to enable translation and localization. Below is a disclosure of the data the app accesses, processes, and stores.
- Help Center content: Articles, categories, and sections (titles, body content, and metadata).
- Dynamic Content: Items and their variants.
- Account locales: Language settings.
- Images: Embedded in articles.
- Translated content: Articles, categories, sections, and Dynamic Content variants in your configured target languages.
- Localized media: Localized versions of embedded images.
- Authentication credentials: OAuth access and refresh tokens issued by Zendesk, used solely to maintain the authorized connection and access the Zendesk API on your behalf.
- Configuration settings: Your Zendesk subdomain and integration configuration (e.g., selected categories, language mappings, sync options).
- Localization assets: Source and translated content is transferred to and stored in your Crowdin project for the purpose of translation.
- Data is processed exclusively to synchronize source content for translation and to publish translations back to your Zendesk Guide.
- The app does not sell, share, or use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than providing the translation/localization service.
The app requests only the permissions strictly required for this functionality:
- Help Center read/write (
hc:read,hc:write) - Dynamic Content read/write (
dynamic_content:read,dynamic_content:write)
Content and credentials are retained while the integration is active. When you disconnect or uninstall the app, the associated tokens and configuration are securely removed and the connection is revoked.
Crowdin is a platform that helps you manage and translate content into different languages. Integrate Crowdin with your repo, CMS, or other systems. Source content is always up to date for your translators, and translated content is returned automatically.
